A Product Manager Learns to Code: Week 11

I've been really busy at my day job. Increasingly busy, every day. I've been waking up very early, but I didn't have time to study because I had to catch up on work.

There's only one more week in the scholarship program and I may not make it through jQuery.
In fact, it's likely I won't make it through.

What I Learned This Week:

  1. What do you do when you have competing priorities? I had a never-ending list of things to do. I wasn't sure where to start and I knew I needed to dedicate some time to study. At the end of the day, you can't always do it all.

I made a list of priorities:
    1 - Family
    2 - Health
    3 - Job
    4 - Blog (Product Popcorn - what you're reading)
    5 - Learn to code

Spoiler: I didn't make it to #5 this week. It sucks, but this was the reality. My cousin had a baby. Work was busy. I'm writing this blog post. I didn't make it to code school.

  1. Making the above list of priorities. I know, it's sad that's the only accomplishment I had this week, but I just didn't find time.

Ah-Ha Moment(s) + My Plan for Next Steps

  1. I might not get through jQuery in the next week. Week 12 is next weekend, and that's where the program ends. I'm going to do as much as I can this week. Then I'm going to take a few weeks off.
  2. Once I've taken a few weeks off, I'm going to start back up with Codecademy and focus my efforts on the JavaScript course there.

That's all I've got for this week. I feel really lame writing this, but I also wanted to stay accountable and admit I didn't do work this week.

On to Week 12!
